The Powder Group’s Industry Intensive series has changed what was expected from in-person, pro makeup artist events by shifting to full-day, multi-artist programs focused on one area of the industry. Now as the world of virtual programing grows to encompass more and more of our educational, inspirational and connection focused programs, we are proud to launch the next iteration of that series. TPG Industry Intensive Online. These completely digital, all live, programs will span two days each and offer twelve sessions featuring panel discussions, artist demonstrations and interview format sessions.
Next up in our 2020 series is our Industry Intensive: Stage and Screen on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25. The session will feature 21 of the top artist in film, television and theatrical makeup artistry and we can't wait for you to experience this one of a kind event.
Participation is open to all beauty industry professionals. TPG Pro Members receive preferred rate of $190 for the two-day session. PBA Members participate at $290 and non-members $390. Members of the Local 798 and 706 receive complimentary participation. Registered participants may watch the live broadcast on October 24-25 and/or watch a Rewatch of the program at any time for two weeks following the live broadcast for no additional charge.

Marietta Carter Narcisse is recognized in our industry for her impeccable artistry and business savvy as well as one of the top educators in our industry for more than 20 years. She has taught and mentored countless artists toward successful careers in makeup. In this very special session, Marietta will look at running your business as a makeup artist in film and television, discuss the must have skills you will need to break into, or grow your career, in the area of film and television makeup and get in-depth on set etiquette and running your business so you can make your own strong mark on the makeup business and build a career of your dreams.
Over her 30 year career, Nicki Ledermann has designed hundreds of makeups. But to design the most iconic and unique character makeups requires more than simply an understanding of makeup design. This require an in depth process and knowledge of every aspect of performance and character development. In this first ever program, Nicki will discuss her design process, considerations for character development and the need to know details that make her the designer of choice for the most character focused productions in our industry including Joker, The Greatest Showman, The Irishman, Sex and the City and Vinyl.
Since 2015, few shows have captured our hearts as deeply, and created a cult following as wide, as the incredible series Schitt’s Creek. In this very special session, makeup artists Candice Ornstein and Lucky Bromhead will discuss their run with the show, the pressures of being a creative on such an iconic project, review their process for design and character development and chat technique and product choices over their time on this legendary production.
The art of making up male actors is one that is crafted over time of experience. In this men’s makeup focused session, Jessica Williams will discuss and demonstrate technique, focus on what makes a good men’s makeup (and what doesn’t), chat product and showcase some of the special makeup effects that are must-have skills for working in television and film.
There are some artists who we consider an artist’s artist. Those whose passion for their craft transcends medium and comes from from the heart. Joe Dulude ll is one of this artists. In his more than 25 year career in makeup artistry his work has spanned mediums including theater, performance, photography and education. He has been responsible for some of the most iconic theatrical designs in the industry including Wicked, Beetlejuice and Spongebob Squarepants the Musical. In this intimate session with Joe, we will explore his career, discuss his most important projects and find out what’s next for this one of a kind artist.
For more than 10 years, Sherri Berman Laurence and Nicky Pattison Illum have been the makeup dream team that productions always long for. Working hand-in-hand as Department Head and Key Makeup Artist, their strong partnership has made them such a strong part of every project they are a part of including Pose, The Politician and Fosse/Verdon. In this career focuses session, we will talk elements of successful teamwork, creating a strong bond with your team, the importance of industry relationships and the dos and don'ts of working on-set with two of the most ever-connected pros in the industry.
Every actor in every production plays a character. Whether that character comes to life for the actor and audience is a complex recipe of acting, direction, wardrobe and of course makeup. In this program, makeup designer Amy L. Forsythe (Stranger Things, Russian Doll) will discuss and demonstrate the process and techniques in creating authentic characters.
Sarah Cimino has made a name for herself in the arena of stage and cabaret artistry with a unique design aesthetic and energy that at once captures both the instinctual personality of her characters and a level of creative artistry that is truly made for the stage. From here work in Opera companies across the country to her celebrated design for Broadway’s Moulin Rouge and Off Broadway’s Company XIV, she takes theatrical makeup to an entirely new level. In this intimate session Sarah will discuss and demonstrate the craft that have made her the go-to artist for so many stage productions.
For more than twenty years, Makeup Artist and Wig Designer Mike Potter has been crafting and recrafting the iconic character Hedwig,from Jon Cameron Mitchell’s Hedwig and the Angry Inch. From it’s first days off Broadway in 1998 to the film adaptation in 2001, to the production’s successful run on Broadway featuring 7 different actor’s playing Hedwig over the more than 500 performances, Mike has made Hedwig magic over and over again. We’ll talk design, product and how to keep things fresh in such a long, multi- dimensional run of a character.
For the past 30 years, the name Eryn Krueger Mekash has been synonymous with makeup artist excellence, exceptional leadership and some of the most iconic projects in the business. She has won 8 Emmys-7 for makeup and 1 for producing- 10 Artisan awards as well as 38 Emmy nominations for outstanding makeup; prosthetic and non-prosthetic. Her award winning work American Horror Story, American Crime Story, Scream Queens and The Normal Heart have truly set the standard for excellence in the pro makeup industry. In this very special session we will look back on Eryn’s iconic career and forward to what’s next for this incredible artist.

In this first- time ever program we speak with five of our industry’s most sought after Makeup Department Heads to discuss the role and art of heading up the makeup department, what they look for in a team, dos and don'ts from across the team and how Covid has effected their role.
