Welcome to The Powder Group 2022! We're back live and in person with one of our most popular artist development programs - Hairstyling 101! This program is a three-day, hands-on workshop created for those starting out in hair work, as well as those with an understanding of hairstyling who want to up their hair game big time!

In this career-shifting, intensive, hands-on program, TPG favorite, celebrity stylist and owner of Moda Rey Salon, Johnny Lavoy will help you kickstart, or further develop, your hairstyling technique to strengthen your basic and beauty-focused work and up your game to new levels in hairstyling.

In Hairstyling 101, Johnny will help you to develop the expertise and secure more clients and strengthen the area of hairstyling for your own skill set. In this intensive, three-day program you will learn about the tools, products and techniques that will help you develop a working knowledge of the art of hairstyling. Johnny will teach you the same amazing techniques he uses on his top clients including Miranda Lambert, Rosie Perez, Maren Morris, Kelly Osborne and more! Check his amazing bio out below!

From a tools standpoint the program will cover how to use the most important styling tools including curling irons, flat irons, blow dryer and a selection of brushes to create the most requested and important hair styles.

From a product standpoint, the program will review the basics of product types and uses, and explain how to choose the right product for your kit, and when and why various product types should – and shouldn’t – be used to create specific looks.

From a technique standpoint, Johnny will take you through an understanding of hair types and textures, hygiene for hairstyling, creating strong beauty, special event and commercial hairstyles as well as the important area of understanding hairstyling for hi-definition work

Travel: The closest airport to the event location is Hartford/Springfield Bradley International Airport. The closest train station to the event location is Hartford.

PRESENTER

Johnny Lavoy is a sought after hair stylists in New York. He is the Artistic Director and founder of Moda-Rey Salon & Spa, the West Hartford, Connecticut business he started over 30 years ago. His work has also become a fixture during NY fashion week, styling hair for designers Michael Kors, Kenneth Cole, Tommy Hilfiger, Dior, Cynthia Steffe, Hugo Boss, Vera Wang, Derek Lam, Do Ri, Tracey Reese, DVF, Oscar De La Renta, Proenza Schouler, Ghost, Milly, Carolina Herrera, Pat Fields, The Blondes, Duckie Brown, Tadashi, Rebecca Taylor, The Red Dress Event, Custo Barcelona and Swarovski. He was also the Key hair and makeup designer for "One Stop Plus" the first plus size fashion show during New York’s Fashion week and the lead hairstylist on Project Runway seasons 10, 11 and 12.
