Next up in The Powder Group's new Industry Intensive series is our Latina Beauty Now program on June 10 in New York City! This event will begin with an evening reception for attendees on the evening of June 9, and continues on to a full-day, multiple presenter program that focuses completely on the important area of Latina beauty.
This program will take an approach that crosses over from celebrity, fashion, media and entertainment. It will include artistry, cultural considerations, product selection, and the important nuances of working with Latina clients in today’s ever diversifying industry. Attendees will participate in conversations with leading artists that have transitioned from successful careers in Latin America to the US and who are paving the way for hispanic talent in makeup artistry.

- The Latina Influence - Johanna Ferreira, Daniele Alvarez, Stephanie Flor, Patricia Reynoso, Milly Almodovar
This panel discussion led by Around The World Beauty founder, Stefanie Flor, includes some of the top voices in Latina beauty print and online media. Joining Stephanie will be Johanna Ferreira, Deputy Editor of hiplatina.com, Daniele Alvarez, Owner the Bonita Project Patricia Reynoso, former Editor in Chief of Glam Belleza, and Beauty and lifestyle expert Milly Almodovar. These game changers in the Latina space will discuss what matters most today when engaging with Latina audience and working with Latina clients. The panel will also discuss the shifting visibility and importance of the Latina perspective in the beauty industry as well as the importance of elevating the space for Latina voices in beauty, and how to stay relevant in this moving market as artists and influencers.
- Incorporating Culture - Stephanie Flor
As the founder of Around The World Beauty, Stephanie Flor has spent the last ten years traveling the world to reveal both traditional and new beauty methods and techniques that are practiced in different cultures. Her journey introduces her audience to international beauty rituals and traditions and invites us to see beauty from a different perspective. In this special Latina culture focused session Stephanie will share unique perspective from a Latin culture focus. She will also do a beauty demonstration that incorporates select cultural references as she creates a modern beauty makeup celebrating the influence of Latina culture
- The Cross Over Artist: A Roundtable Discussion - Crisger Santley, Anluis Minier, Mayela Vazquez, Marianne Vegas
How do you go about regrouping and pushing forward as a Latino or Latina makeup artist who left a successful career back at home, just to start over once you landed in a new country, in an industry that might feel completely unfamiliar to the one you know and love. For many there can be a desire, or an expectation, of staying in the Latino lane, But in an ever evolving industry the challenge can be how to successfully cross over and get those dream jobs while representing and staying true to your strong cultural root. We’ll be deep diving into this discussion with makeup artists Crisger Santley (Venezuela) Mayela Vazquez (Mexico), Anluis Minier (Dominican Republic), Marianne Vegas (Venezuela) and discuss what makes the Latino artist stand out, what are brands looking for when it comes to artistic or business partnerships, and how to elevate not just your voice as an artist but your community as whole.
- Latina Beauty Now - Vincent Oquendo, Ilde Goncalvez and Paola Orlando
This unique two-part session starts with a panel discussion, let by Michael DeVellis, and including three of our industries go-to makeup artists for top Latina clients – Vincent Oquendo, Ilde Goncalvez and Paola Orlando. These rockstars of beauty will share their thoughts on products, makeup trends and how the culture of their clients plays into their design choices. From magazine editorials, commercial work, television appearances and the biggest award shows in entertainment, these pros are in the know when their high profile Latina clients – actors, models, musicians, television personalities – are looking for when the spotlight is shining directly on them. The second portion of the session will be a series of three star-quality makeup demonstrations, featuring each of our panelists, focusing on the techniques, products and service experience that have made them sought after by the biggest names in entertainment.
