The Powder Group is so pleased to announce another amazing opportunity in partnership with our friends at Temptu - Incorporating Airbrush with La Sonya Gunter and Merrell Hollis! These half-day interactive workshops will take attendees through a presenter demonstration, followed by a hands-on workshop. Both traditional and airbrush application will be incorporated and Temptu will provide the airbrush equipment for use in the session. You don't need to have experience in airbrush application to participate so this is the perfect event for every artist from beginner to advanced. Best of all - these two Incorporating Airbrush classes are FREE for TPG Pro members and TEMPTU Pro members!

Incorporating Airbrush: Beauty with An Edge - Creating unique and impactful makeup applications that are pushed beyond traditional beauty is a must-have skill set for every artist who wants to stand out in a crowded industry. In this very special, first-time ever session, theater, television and celebrity makeup artist, La Sonya Gunter, will take attendees through the design and application process, talk about taking artistic risks that work and how to create just the right amount of extra in each makeup, that make your work, and your clients, stand out and get noticed.
La Sonya Gunter is a leading artist in the New York City professional makeup artist arena. Her long-time, deep experience in makeup artistry spans a wide range of genres from television, movies and theater to red carpet and editorial work. Her television work includes Pose, Godfather of Harlem, Person of Interest and For Life, while her film work includes The Greatest Showman, West Side Story and The Irishman. She was also nominated for an Emmy for her work on Jesus Christ Superstar Live. La Sonya is currently the Associate Designer for The Rose Tattoo on Broadway, staring Marissa Tomei and was the makeup supervisor for the Tony award winning production of Kinky Boots staring Billy Porter. She continues to work with Billy and has been responsible for creating many of the iconic looks he has walked the red carpet wearing including his show-stopping look at the Met Gala Her other celebrity work includes Wayne Brady, Bendon Urie, Russell Hornsby, Darlene Love and Oona Chaplin. La Sonya is a proud member of the Local 798 and is also currently an educator at Make-up Designory in New York City.

Incorporating Airbrush: A Focus on Complexion - In an age where makeup application has taken on many varied forms and unique perspectives - some artistry has pushed the boundaries of what defines beautiful skin and complexion work to a place that, while okay for the social media impact, does not represent the techniques that your real clients need and want. In this complexion focused session, Merrell Hollis gives our attendees a reality-check on the dos and don'ts of proper complexion work and takes you through his techniques for flawless blending, seamless contour, foundation placement.
Merrell Hollis is well known for his work with celebrity clients including Jennifer Hudson, Wendy Williams, Naomi Campbell, Diane Von Furstenberg and Kim Cattrall along with the talent at Sean Combs Bad Boy Entertainment. His cosmetic expertise has been shared with Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight and the CBS Early Show. Editorially, his artistry has graced the pages of Vogue, Harper's, Bazaar, InStyle, Vanity Fair, Essence, GQ, Details, Interview, Rolling Stone, People and Men's health. His work had also appeared in music videos for Sean 'P.Diddy' Coombs, Mary J Blige, Nelly, Usher, Faith Evans and Ludacris. Merrell's consultancy within the beauty industry has allowed alliances with the leaders of Clinique, Bobbi Brown, MAC, MAKE UP FOR EVER, Lancome and Versace. His work also appears on product packaging and advertising for L'Oreal Paris and Soft Sheen. He believes that good skin is foundation for great make up. Merrell is also a member of the American Cancer Society's advisory board. He feels that it is duty as a man to help uplift and support the needs of people of color and his community.
